Gwaenysgor is a conservation village in Flintshire set within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has a very popular pub which serves meals. There are views of the Irish Sea, Snowdonia, The Clwydian hills, the Great Orme and Anglesey. There are many excellent local walks including along the Offa’s Dyke footpath and to the top of Gop Hill which is the second largest neolithic mound in Britain. Prestatyn with its independent shops, supermarkets and restaurants, blue flag beach, Wales Coastal Footpath and the start of the 177-mile Offa’s Dyke Footpath is only two miles away.
Local attractions include Rhuddlan Castle, Dyserth Waterfalls, the Clwyd Hills. Wildlife lovers will enjoy the Gronant Dunes protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and the RSPB Nature Reserve at Point of Ayr. Conwy with its scenic harbour, famous castle and RSPB Reserve, Llandudno, Anglesey, Llangollen and the historic city of Chester are all under an hour away. Moel Famau, the Vale of Clwyd, Greenfield Park and St Winifrede’s Well and Shrine are closer at about half an hour’s drive.
